of the Atlee Library
The community in this part of Hanover County wanted a library and as a result of a successful bond referendum in 1994, plans were laid out to open a new branch. A renovation of a rundown storefront began in the summer of 1997; everything from the floor to the roof. What started out as a shell of a grocery store evolved into a bright, energetic and bustling library.
The Atlee Branch Library is now 10 years old - and see how we've grown! We average a monthly circulation of over 12,000 items in a variety of formats, such as print, sound and visual and in a variety of topics (from aspic to zithers and everything in between). Also, as a service to the County, we sell dog tags for those pets that have current rabies inoculations.
The Friends of the Atlee Branch Library is comprised of members of the public who are advocates for the library, its staff and the community (they would love to have you join them!). Book sales are conducted several times a year, with all proceeds benefiting the Atlee Branch Library. Through their generosity, programming has been made available for all ages, equipment purchased for public use and hospitality provided at many functions held at the library.
The staff of the Atlee Branch Library is eager to provide you with friendly, personalized service and we'll even help you with your homework, but we won't do it for you! Come "check us out!"
