From 1948 to 1977, the West Point Library, in King
William County, was operated by the Monday Club. In 1977, King William County joined the
Pamunkey Regional Library system. The Monday Club relinquished operation of the library
and donated the books that were already on the shelves. During the 1980's, the Literary
Club, part of the Ruritan Club, raised money to expand the library. The Friends of the
West Point Library and the Literary Club combined efforts in the 1990's to renovate a
larger building for the library. We moved into our new branch in September, 1992.
In May of 2001, we opened our new computer lab, Pamunkey Place, which was funded
with a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Please see our
new guidelines for computer lab use, as well as our revised guidelines for
computer use throughout our library system.
