CHILDREN'S RESOURCE COORDINATOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Children’s Resource Coordinator is responsible for the organization, maintenance, and distribution of children’s programming resources.  This position is supervised by the Supervising Librarian responsible for children’s programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

The Children’s Resource Coordinator is primarily responsible for maintaining and filling requests for the children’s programming resources. 
Duties may include:
  • Organizing and labeling resources
  • Filling requests from children’s programmers
  • Routing materials to branches
  • Updating “Storytellers’ Resource List” annually
  • Designing and creating new storytime resources
  • Ordering replacement materials
  • Recommending new materials
  • Maintaining statistics
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • College courses preferred
  • Experience preparing and/or presenting children’s programs preferred

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Valid VA driver’s license or reliable transportation to and from work
  • Subject to six-moth probationary period
  • May require additional training outside the normal work day
  • May require evening or weekend hours
