Local Interest

Branch History

Since January 2001, the Upper King William Library has been conveniently located near the intersection of Routes 360 and 30 in the heart of King William County. Although not on one of these main roads, the library is visible to traffic traveling east and west on Route 360 in its location in the center of a hilltop strip mall on Sharon Road.

By raising funds from both book sales and private donations and by lobbying for support from both the community and the King William County Board of Supervisors, the Friends of the Upper King William Library succeeded in having the first Upper King William Library open in May, 1995, between a barber shop and dance/karate studio in a very small shopping center in Manquin.

With six desktop computers for our patrons to use and unlimited wireless access for our patrons with their own laptops, our patronage and resources continue to grow. The branch has a large meeting room that can be reserved by our patrons. During most of the year, the branch also offers Family Storytime on Wednesday mornings.

The staff of the Upper King William Library looks forward to providing every patron with friendly and efficient service and to doing all that they can to make certain everyone will get the materials or information they request.
