Branch History

From 1948 to 1977, the West Point Library, in King William County, was operated by the Monday Club. In 1977, King William County joined the Pamunkey Regional Library system. The Monday Club relinquished operation of the library and donated the books that were already on the shelves. During the 1980's, the Literary Club, part of the Ruritan Club, raised money to expand the library. The Friends of the West Point Library and the Literary Club combined efforts in the 1990's to renovate a larger building for the library. We moved into our present branch in September, 1992. In May of 2001, we opened our computer lab, Pamunkey Place, which was funded with a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Please see our guidelines for computer lab use, as well as our revised guidelines for computer use throughout our library system.
